Julie Bowman Art

Artist Bio

Born in the harbor town of Frankfort, MI, Julie has always been drawn to water wherever she goes.

Painting since she was four years old (helping herself to her mother’s painting supplies), Julie has never looked back. She managed squeezing in creative time between career and family, garnering awards along the way. “I spent many a late night matting and framing works for a weekend festival or gallery show while my little ones were peacefully sleeping in their beds”.

Julie loves the Impressionists, and leans that way in her work. Learning to be expressive, energetic, and free with-out overworking or getting lost in details has been one of her greatest ongoing challenges.

Noticing paintings in everyday surroundings and in nature is what Julie is known for. She revels in bringing those moments colorfully to light and life, painting and sharing those observations with her viewers. Those renderings are created in pastel, watercolor, acrylic and oils, or combinations thereof.

A fellow artist says “Julie paints from her soul, I feel the energy in her works”. Capturing the moment in her paintings is her passion and joy.

Julie and her husband are currently retired, and residing on the “Forgotten Coast” in Panacea, FL, where she has converted a man-cave into her studio. She loves the nearby St. Mark’s Wildlife Refuge and the Apalachicola National Forest .

Julie exemplifies the quote from Winslow Homer: “The sun will not rise or set without my notice, and thanks.”
